Crafting interiors products and experiences
Toby Birtwistle grew up with the Outpost way of life with his family, they lived in the Colorado Rocky Mountains, the Isle of Raasay in the Outer Hebrides and Lunegarde in Le Lot, France. These isolated homes gave a natural allure to practical homemaking and comfort.
Leaving the wilderness he arrived in London and trained in Fine Art at Chelsea School of Art and as an Architect at the Architectural Association.
Subsequent years were spent honing the art of planning and detailing at Hopkins Architects and Allies and Morrison.
Private commissions spurred the idea of Birtwistle Outpost in 2014, specialising in domestic, retail, work spaces and product design.
Birtwistle Outpost was launched on Calvert Avenue as a pop up showcasing by day products designed by not only Toby but his creative friends and family and by night as a private dining experience for up to 25 people, this proved to be very successful indeed.
